Basking sharks, breaching whales, dolphins, porpoises it’s all happening on Cape today

Lots happening around Cape at the moment. On the ferry people saw dolphins, minke whales, basking sharks this morning. We went out in kayaks from South Harbour to see if we could find anything. Gradually the fins of the basking sharks began to emerge, with splashes in the distance suggesting whales. By the end we had the sharks all around us, at times even having two 20 – 25 foot creatures going underneath our boats. Whales also began breaching too, we all saw it happen 3 or 4 times. The final time the whale was where we had been paddling at mouth of South Harbour and looked massive as it hurled itself out of the water.
